After a surprise 1-0 defeat in the first leg, Bayern Munich have given themselves work to do if they are to overcome Villarreal and make it through to the Champions League semi-final.
They didn’t exactly get the best preparation for this game at the weekend, limping to a 1-0 win over Augsburg courtesy of a late Robert Lewandowski penalty.
There will need to be changes for Tuesday’s game if Bayern are to be successful, so here’s how Julian Nagelsmann could set up.
Manuel Neuer (GK) – An obvious starter when fit.
Benjamin Pavard (RB) – Enjoying a nice run of form right now and deserves another start.
Dayot Upamecano (CB) – Yet to really live up to all the hype at Bayern but has pulled off some excellent moments.
Lucas Hernandez (CB) – With Niklas Sule feeling unwell, this is the perfect time for Lucas to return from injury.
Alphonso Davies (LB) – Davies is back after his heart issue and his massive threat will be vital to Bayern’s chances of victory.
Joshua Kimmich (DM) – Kimmich hasn’t been good enough in midfield recently but it’s hard to see someone with his quality getting benched.
Leon Goretzka (DM) – Goretzka may need to play a little more conservatively to cover for Kimmich’s defensive deficiencies.
Kingsley Coman (RM) – Bayern’s best attacker at the weekend and he wasn’t even on the pitch for half an hour.
Thomas Muller (AM) – Woefully out of form right now but Muller needs just one moment of magic to make the difference.
Leroy Sane (LM) – Surprisingly deployed on his weaker right side against Augsburg, Sane must return to the left here.
Robert Lewandowski (ST) – The saviour at the weekend, Lewandowski stands a good chance of being the hero this time around too.
