Casemiro takes aim at Real Madrid fans over Gareth Bale treatment

Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro has today moved to defend teammate Gareth Bale, on the back of the club’s supporters making their frustrations with the Welshman clear once more this past weekend.

For those not aware, wide-man Bale was afforded a rare appearance in Real’s colours on Saturday evening.

With Carlo Ancelotti’s troops two goals to the good in a La Liga meeting with Getafe, the 32-year-old was introduced off the bench for the game’s final fifteen minutes.

Bale’s introduction, however, was met with a chorus of whistles and jeers across the Bernabeu, as the home fans in attendance went about making it abundantly clear that they remain firmly against his presence in the club’s first-team setup:

The veteran Welshman himself, as showcased in the footage above, paid no heed to the supporters in question, laughing off the whistles in making his way onto the pitch.

One fellow member of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, however, who failed to see the funny side of the situation was Casemiro.

Speaking in a press conference on Monday, Real’s midfield enforcer was drawn on the latest Blancos backlash against Bale.

And the Brazilian international did not hold back with his response, revealing his opinion that, when taking aim at the winger, fans are disrespecting not only Bale, but also the rest of Los Merengues’ players, as well as the club as a whole:

“When one player is whistled at, we all get whistled at. I don’t agree when this happens.

“We have to support him. I don’t like the way Bale was whistled the other day because he is a historic player for this club.

“When you whistle at a player like that you whistle at the history of this club. If we are all together, we are all together.

“I want the Bernabeu to make my hair stand on end. We are counting on the support of the public.”

Pensioners clash

Casemiro’s take on Bale’s situation of course comes just 24 hours out from Real Madrid turning their attentions back towards matters on the continent, in a meeting with Premier League giants Chelsea.

A week on from putting them to the sword at Stamford Bridge, Ancelotti and co. will welcome the Blues to the Spanish capital, for the 2nd leg of the Champions League quarter final tie between the clubs.

Tuesday’s hosts are currently in possession of a 3-1 advantage, no doubt confident in their chances of booking a spot in the competition’s final-4 courtesy of yet more Karim Benzema brilliance.
