Marseille predicted lineup vs PSG – Ligue 1

Le Classique pits Marseille against PSG on Sunday night as Jorge Sampaoli’s men aim to continue their recent winning run at the home of their great rivals.

Marseille made it eight wins in a row in all competitions with a 1-0 win over PAOK in midweek, sealing their place in the last four of the Europa Conference League in the process.

Remarkably, the club from the south of France have won just one of the last 24 Le Classique encounters, with many arguing that there hasn’t been a better opportunity to get one over on PSG than there is currently.

With that in mind, here’s how Marseille could line up.

William Saliba

Steve Mandanda (GK) – Closing in on 500 appearances for Marseille, with his nine appearances for Crystal Palace providing decent pub quiz material.

Valentin Rongier (RB) – Very versatile, capable of operating as a defensive midfielder when required.

William Saliba (CB) – Developing into one of the most well-rounded central defenders in Europe, which could be to Arsenal’s benefit next season.

Boubacar Kamara (CB) – Comfortable on the ball and has racked up over 150 appearances for Marseille in his fledgling career.

Luan Peres (LB) – Impressed in last weekend’s win over Montpellier and will need to be at his best to tame PSG’s ferocious front three.

Matteo Guendouzi

Pape Gueye (CM) – Has proven a shrewd pick-up from Marseille, capable of carrying out Sampaoli’s high-energy demands.

Matteo Guendouzi (CM) – Arsenal fans look away, as the 23-year-old is showcasing his precocious talent on a weekly basis for Marseille.

Gerson (CM) – Provides thrust from midfield, capable of chipping in with a goal or assist when required.

Cengiz Under (RW) – Never quite worked out at Leicester under Brendan Rodgers, but he is shining under the guidance of Sampaoli.

Ahmadou Bamba Dieng (ST) – Aiming to score three in a row in Ligue 1 for the first time this season.

Dimitri Payet (LW) – As he displayed to stunning effect in the first leg against PAOK in the Europa Conference League, he can provide Marseille with an X-factor.
