Ajax’s 20-year-old sensation Jurrien Timber is awaiting an agreed deal from Manchester United.
What’s the word?
That is according to a report from Alex Turk, who took to his personal Twitter account to share some new developments he had learned around Manchester United’s interest in signing Timber.
Turk stated: “Learnt a couple of Jurrien Timber tidbits this morning. It’s NOT done. But told Timber’s camp are now awaiting an agreed deal, suggesting personal terms are no problem. United expected to formalise concrete offer to Ajax now Erik ten Hag has officially started as manager.”
Previous reports have suggested the defender will cost in the region of £35m.
Excitement for United fans
The latest news surrounding Timber is entirely positive from a United perspective – despite Turk emphasising that the deal is by no means done.
Developments around the transfer are clearly being made day by day, with Ten Hag obviously interested in bringing in a player that he knows well and that can help to awaken the sleeping giant that is Manchester United.
Should United sign Timber?
Turk suggested that “personal terms are no problem”, with United now best positioned to acquire the young Dutch starlet now that Ten Hag has officially begun his tenure as manager.
It’s no wonder why the 52-year-old is so keen on signing Timber, someone dubbed “magnificent” by talent scout Jacek Kulig.
His average of 8.02 passes into the final third are line-breaking and provide further substantiation for how a 20-year-old central defender has managed to rack up five attacking returns in the form of three goals and two assists.
Whilst Timber’s defensive numbers could do with a boost, his ability in the possession phase of the game would help to quickly solve United’s problem in building from the back in a calm and composed manner. As a result, bringing him to Old Trafford is surely an exciting proposition for everyone associated with the club.
