Tottenham eyeing Youri Tielemans swoop

A huge Tottenham Hotspur claim has emerged on their interest in Leicester’s Youri Tielemans…

What’s the talk?

Transfer insider Dean Jones has claimed via GIVEMESPORT that sources have revealed the Belgium international is a big target for Spurs heading into the summer window as Fabio Paratici looks to bolster the squad.

The midfield maestro is said to be open to a move to the club and is valued at £30m by the Foxes, although it remains to be seen whether or not Tottenham are willing to match that valuation.

Great news for Conte…

This news is great news for Antonio Conte for multiple reasons.

Firstly, Tielemans not being against a transfer gives Spurs a boost in their hopes of signing him. It shows that he will be receptive to joining if the club can agree a fee with Leicester, which may help to speed the process up if it comes down to negotiating personal terms with him.

Secondly, the midfielder would be a superb addition to the squad and one that Conte would love to have. He is a proven Premier League performer who has consistently delivered for the Foxes in recent years.

In the top-flight this season, he has averaged a SofaScore rating of 7.15 across 24 matches. The maestro has made 3.1 tackles and interceptions and won 4.9 duels per game, whilst also chipping in with six goals and two assists from the middle of the park.

Last term, he also averaged a score of 7.15 and scored six goals. However, he produced four assists and made 3.5 tackles and interceptions per game across 38 appearances in the division – proving that he can perform week-in-week-out over multiple campaigns.

This shows that he is a box-to-box midfielder who can win possession back at one end before delivering a killer pass or shot in the final third at the other. He can, therefore, be a difference-maker as he has the ability to dictate what happens at both ends of the pitch.

At the age of 24, he also has plenty of time left ahead of him to develop further. Tielemans can be Tottenham’s starting midfielder for many years to come as he heads into the peak years of his career. He can improve over time at Spurs and this means that he can be an investment, from a financial point of view, whilst also immediately being able to impress on the pitch with his performances.
