New adidas kits for Spain, Germany, Sweden, Belgium and Northern Ireland have been unveiled for Euro 2022 this summer, with the tournament just around the corner in summer.
It is set to be the biggest Women’s European Championship to date, with around half of available tickets sold and already surpassing the previous tournament record set in 2017.
Several individual games – including the final at Wembley – have quickly sold out. The final could even set a new attendance record in European Championship history, for men or women.
Supplying the kits for a number of countries competing at the tournament, adidas have now released the jerseys that some of the tournament’s best players will be wearing come July.
Images of the kit launch were taken at the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London – a location known for its traditional London aesthetic. It was also the video setting for breakthrough Spice Girls’ single ‘Wannabe’ in 1996 – an iconic moment of pop-culture female empowerment.
Each new home kit take inspiration from national flags, while away jerseys are inspired by previous iconic designs in their country’s history. Sustainability is also a huge theme, with adidas creating each using recycled materials made with Parley Ocean Plastic and feature the latest in adidas fabric innovations, as well as sweat-wicking AEROREADY technology to keep players and fans cool.
“We saw each kit as a canvas for creativity,” said Nick Craggs, general manager of adidas Football.
“An opportunity to capture and reimagine the DNA of each nation, connecting players and fans with a shared identity to feel a sense of belonging and confidence over the course of the tournament.
“This is a huge moment for football and our aim was to create kits that helped the players be the best versions of themselves as they step into the spotlight.”
Euro 2022 replica kits are available to purchase via www.adidas.co.uk/uefa_euro and selected adidas stores & retailers. The Northern Ireland kit is exclusively available at JD Sports.
